Significant Planning Applications:

There are four separate proposals at different stages of development:

1Former Stillingfleet Mine siteProposals to develop part of the site as a waste sorting centre. The planning application has been submitted by Harworth Estates.
The Parish Council has made representations, worked to support local residents with their objections and to raise the profile of the issue. The Parish Council reiterated its concerns in summer 2019.
North Yorkshire County Council are the determining authority for the application, and residents can read more or make representations here. The application is expected to be heard by North Yorkshire County Council Planning and Regulatory Affairs committee in July 2020. It is understood that the application will be recommended for approval.
2Former North Selby Mine siteProposals to develop the site as a caravan park, with a mix of static caravans, touring plots and glamping pods. This planning application was submitted by Harworth Estates in January 2019.
The Parish Council agreed its initial response at February 2019 meeting. This site currently has planning permission for use as an anaerobic digestor site.
The application will be determined by City of York Council for the majority of the site, and Selby District Council for the parts of the site within Selby District. You can see our North Selby Mine summary page which includes links to the application and to make comments.
3Former brickworks waste infill siteApplication from Escrick Environmental Services to vary the conditions for infill and restoration of the former brickworks quarry west of the A19.  This site is a former clay pit, and is in the process of being infilled and restored.
A planning application was originally submitted  in January 2019, this application was taken to appeal by the applicant and would therefore be determined by the Planning Inspectorate. This appeal has now been put in abeyance pending the result of a new application.
A new application was submitted in May 2020. This is substantially the same as the one submitted in January 2019. North Yorkshire County Council are the determining authority for this application.
The Parish Council agreed its response to the original application in February 2019. Residents can read more or make representations here
Please note any representations made against the original application will not automatically be carried across to the new application. Residents should make fresh representations or resubmit their representations if they wish these to be considered.
4Proposed new clay extraction west of A19Application from Plasmor for long-term clay extraction from an area west of the A19, north and west of the business park.
These proposals were first raised in the Joint Minerals and Waste Plan and then subsequent 'scoping opinion' application. A planning application was submitted in August 2019.
North Yorkshire County Council are the determining authority for this application. Residents can read more or make representations here. The planning documents are extensive, and residents might find the applicant's 'non-technical summary' as the best way to understand the application. The Parish Council submitted a response on 25th October 2019. The application is expected to be heard by North Yorkshire County Council Planning and Regulatory Affairs committee in summer 2020.
