Significant Planning Proposals:

There are various proposals at different stages of development:

Local plan allocations

1	Heronby	Proposal to develop a new settlement to the South West of Escrick. Selby District Council are developing a new local plan for the district, which will set out how the district will develop until 2040. In 2020 they asked land owners to put forward potential sites for development. A site has been put forward to the south west of Escrick for a new settlement, known as Heronby. Selby District Council is now considering this alongside two potential other new settlement locations as part of their local plan. They are consulting on the first draft of the local plan until 12th March 2021, and expect to consult on the final draft in early 2022. 2	Housing sites around the village	Proposal for housing to the west, east and south of Escrick: The local plan also received three submissions for land on the boundary of Escrick (see below). These have been rejected in the first draft of the local plan issued for consultation in early 2021. You can find out more about the local plan and these allocations here.

Planning applications recently determined

1	Former Stillingfleet Mine site	Proposals to develop part of the site as a waste sorting centre for construction and demolition wastes. The planning application was submitted by Harworth Estates, and was rejected by North Yorkshire County Council on 16th March 2021. The Parish Council has made representations, worked to support local residents with their objections and to raise the profile of the issue. The Parish Council reiterated its concerns in summer 2019. North Yorkshire County Council are the determining authority for the application, and residents can read planning documents here.
2	Former North Selby Mine site	Proposals to develop the site as a caravan park, with a mix of static caravans, touring plots and glamping pods. This planning application was submitted by Harworth Estates in January 2019 and was approved by City of York Council in August 2020. The Parish Council agreed its initial response at February 2019 meeting. This site also previously had planning permission granted for use as an anaerobic digestor site. 3	Former brickworks waste infill site	Application from Escrick Environmental Services to vary the conditions for infill and restoration of the former brickworks quarry west of the A19. This site is a former clay pit, and is in the process of being infilled and restored. A planning application was originally submitted in January 2019, and then a new application submitted in May 2020. The Parish Council agreed its response to the application in February 2019. Residents can see the plans here. The application was approved by NYCC Planning Committee on 8th September 2020.
4	Proposed new clay extraction west of A19	Application from Plasmor for long-term clay extraction from an area west of the A19, north and west of the business park. These proposals were first raised in the Joint Minerals and Waste Plan and then subsequent 'scoping opinion' application. A planning application was submitted in August 2019. Residents can view the plans here. The planning documents are extensive, and residents might find the applicant's 'non-technical summary' as the best way to understand the application. The Parish Council submitted a response on 25th October 2019. The application was approved by North Yorkshire County Council Planning and Regulatory Affairs committee on 30th July 2020.
